Membership of the Trust
From the beginning, the group decided that Trustees should reflect as widely as possible a range of skills and experience to best serve the project; these included governance skills and experience, knowledge of New Zealand art, skills and experience relating to the organisation of galleries and/or museums, botanical and garden knowledge, communication and publicity skills, legal skills, accounting skills, and fundraising skills. All Trustees give their services pro bono.
Ian Lochhead – Co Chair BA, MA ,PhD. Retired Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Canterbury. Former head of the School of Fine Arts. He has written extensively on the history of New Zealand architecture and has been actively involved in heritage conservation.
Neil Roberts – Co-Chair. BA, DFA. Independent art historian and valuer. Former artist and teacher, former senior curator at Christchurch Art Gallery ~ Te Puna o Waiwhetū. Former Chair of Sydenham Heritage Trust, Christchurch Civic and Inner City West Neighbourhood Association (ICON).
Lynne Lochhead -Secretary/Treasurer. BA, LLB (Hons), MSc, PhD Environmental historian and heritage activist. Former chair of Canterbury Branch Committee of New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Trustee of Terrace Station Charitable Trust and Godley Head Heritage Trust, secretary of Historic Places Canterbury and Restore Christchurch Cathedral Group.
Laurel Fitzgerald – (MTchLn, BEd) has been engaged in adult and child education for over 30 years. She is currently employed at the University of Canterbury School of Teacher Education as a lecturer and tutor in Treaty, Social Studies, and Health Education, and in the supervision of Professional Practice.
Blair Jackson – BFA. Director, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū . Blair has worked at the Canterbury Society of Arts, now known as CoCA, at the Manawatu Art Gallery and at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Toitū Otago Settlers Museum. Joined Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū in 2006 as Deputy Director and Curatorial, Collections and Programmes Manager.
Aaron Kreisler – BA, MA. Head of Ilam School of Fine Arts at the University Canterbury. Former curator at Dunedin Public Art Gallery and an award winning arts writer, Aaron continues to do freelance curating, writing and arts focused initiatives.
Anton Tritt – BA, BArch, MNZIA, Registered Architect. Design Principal at Dalman Architects Ltd. Anton has extensive experience in the design and delivery of architectural projects within commercial, residential, retail and hospitality sectors. He has significant experience in the delivery of community projects (pro bono).
